Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser when you visit them. They allow the site to remember information about your visit to improve your experience: language preferences, whether you've already seen a notice, session data, etc.

Cookies are not viruses or malicious programs. In Spain they are regulated by Real Decreto-ley 13/2012 and Ley 34/2002 (LSSI-CE), as well as by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Types of cookies we use

By duration

• Session cookies: deleted automatically when you close your browser.
• Persistent cookies: stay for a set period and are deleted on their expiry date.

By origin

• First-party: set by lamarujabakery.es.
• Third-party: set by the external services we use, namely Google and Meta.

By purpose

• Technical or strictly necessary: essential for the site to work and to remember your own choice about cookies. They do not require consent (art. 22.2 LSSI-CE).
• Analytics: they tell us which pages are visited and where visitors come from. They require your consent and are off by default.
• Advertising: they let us measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads work. They require your consent and are off by default.

3. Exactly what is stored in your browser

This table is not a generic list: it is the result of measuring this site with a real browser, from a clean state, and writing down everything that gets stored. Nothing marked as analytics or advertising is installed unless you press “Accept”. If you reject, or simply choose nothing, only the first two rows remain.

4. Cookieless audience measurement

We use Metricool to know, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. We have checked its code: it installs no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It only sends Metricool the address of the page you are viewing, your window size and, if you came from another site, where you came from.

That is why it falls outside art. 22.2 LSSI-CE and loads without asking you, in line with the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s Guidance on the use of cookies for audience-measurement tools. Metricool acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not cross-reference or share that data. We tell you here because we think you have a right to know, even though your consent is not required.

5. The Google Maps map

Some pages embed a Google Maps map so you can find the bakery. When it loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers and they receive your IP address.

In our tests the map installed no cookies, because current browsers block third-party cookies. Even so, in a browser that allows them, Google could set its own cookies (NID, SID and similar). If you would rather avoid it entirely, do not load the map and use the “View on Google Maps” link instead.

6. Google Analytics and the Meta pixel

Google Analytics 4 gives us aggregate visit statistics: most-viewed pages, time on site, traffic sources. We do not identify any individual visitor. Data is handled under Google’s consent mode: until you accept, the tag is not even downloaded.

The Meta pixel lets us measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform. Like the previous one, it is not downloaded until you accept it.

7. Your consent: giving it, changing it or withdrawing it

The first time you visit we show a notice with two buttons of the same size: Reject and Accept. Rejecting takes exactly as much effort as accepting, and if you choose nothing, nothing is installed. The optional category boxes come switched off: turning them on is always your own act.

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. You can change your mind whenever you want from the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page, or right here:

If you withdraw a permission you had given, we delete the corresponding cookies from your browser and reload the page so the scripts are no longer loaded. Your choice expires after 6 months: after that we ask you again.

Please note that paying for online orders and the Club Marujeo are separate sites (the BBVA Virtual POS payment gateway (Redsys) and marujeo.lamarujabakery.es) with their own cookie policies. What you decide here does not apply there.

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new services or when the cookies we use change. We will publish the updated version on this page with the date of the last modification.
